Hey Maarten! Really like the article and the way you pick apart Pinker's ideas on this issue.

I agree that mankind has made progress, but am uncomfortable (like many) with his blatant dismissal of issues like rights and racism. Telling a poor immigrant family to 'be more grateful' when the system is rigged to never let them live well, is short sighted.

He's not entirely wrong on the issue of gratefulness. Your article originally peaked my interest because I'm trying to define 'progress' for myself, and I just realized the recognition of progress already made pre-cludes the definition/act of it. My question for you is: how do you define it?
